The Trend Killer

0

Hey Fiends,

Hate to be a trend killer, but this ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ is annoying the hell out of me. I’ve seen some really stupid trends in the past, but this one is really annoying. For one thing, I think it’s rude to force anyone to donate to a charity. Or making them dump a bucket of ice water on their head if they ‘don’t donate. That is total bullshit. I ‘already’ donate to the charity of MY CHOICE. I am also very active in giving my time to local charity events THAT I BELIEVE IN. I will NOT be forced to donate to anything. I know that Patty and myself have been nominated to participate in this trend, but we flatly refuse. We appreciate the noble gesture, but we do not believe in this AT ALL. Reports are also coming in stating the money you donate is NOT really going to research for ALS. You would think that the way this trend is sweeping the globe, and the millions that have been made from this trend. That they now have enough money to find a cure for the disease. Well, I’m sorry to burst the bubble, and I’m not on board with this AT ALL!! You know where my charity contributions lie this week? It’s at THE LARRY WILKINS BENEFIT SHOW at The State Theatre on Friday. This is something we highly believe in. Giving all the money to the family of a beloved metal brethren who passed away recently. This money is going for burial expenses. You can read the lineup below at the “Live Events’ section. I think most of my metal brethren would rather attend this event and give something for a ‘really’ noble cause. And no one is forcing you to dump a bucket of water on your head. In fact, I’m not down with most of the crap that the ‘Facebook Generation’ is dishing out. Unfortunately, I have to deal with facebook for promotions, but that’s it for me. And I’m not on it that much. I’ve said it many times, I MISS MYSPACE. The Rock Solid Pressure Show was ‘HUGE’ in those days. We had a tight, and very large community of awesome rockers. I still refuse to tweet, to Instagram..Screw all that crap. The youth of today are missing out on LIFE, and it really worries me that these people will grow up and eventually run our country. Thankfully I won’t be around to see the demise of our culture, and our world. We’re breeding socially inept people. It’s becoming a world of sheltered introverts who talk a lot of shit on Facebook. But when you meet these people in person, it kinda makes you scared for the future of our country and our culture. We were once a strong society with strong, powerful minded people..Well, it’s all gone to hell in a hand basket..Count me out!!

Ok, I’m done ranting for the moment. But how bout the show last night? That kicked ass!! Trends might come and go. Radio stations and DJ’s come and go. Yet Rock Solid Pressure keeps rolling along like a giant, crushing, metal wheel. Our affiliation with some of the biggest labels in the world like CENTURY MEDIA and ROADRUNNER, allow us to bring the coolest, the newest, most explosive music on the planet. We also get these new releases months before they come out, so we always expose you to the newest sounds before anyone else. We love turning you on to stuff that you never heard before, and we’ve been championing that cause since 2002. We will never be pigeonholed or put into a box. Yes, we have an extreme ‘Dark Side’ (lol), but in this day and age, the darkness seems to be the only place that is not affected by mindless ‘trends’..We certainly unleashed the darkness last night, and once again, it was mostly exclusive debut tracks. Here’s what happened

DARK FORTRESS: On Fever’s Wings (Century Media) exclusive debut

ANUBIS GATE: Hear My Call (Nightmare Records) debut track

HELMET: White City (Work Song Records) debut track

SCAR THE MARTYR: My Retribution (Roadrunner) debut track

INVIOLATE: Illusion Of Mercy (Strange One Records) debut track

Old Bones

0

Hey Fiends,

Feeling a bit revived and reanimated after last week’s break from the airwaves. We really needed it. The Summer Concert Season is taking a toll on our old bones. This has been the busiest summer ‘ever’ in our history. Usually the concert season dies down a bit in the summer. The huge national shows are always a bit scarce in July in August because a lot of bands just can’t stand the heat down here in Florida. I don’t blame them, it’s currently 95 degrees out right now. What’s killing us is the overabundance of local shows. We’re splitting our time between The State Theatre and The Coliseum, which are both running a lot of local events. There are still 4 huge events left in August for us, so it’s a real survival test. But we’re enjoying every minute. The shows have been incredible!! We only have one huge event this week, so we’re kind of getting a break..The event is this Saturday at The Coliseum, and it’s going to be HUGE!! It’s THE NEXT GENERATION FOOD TRUCK RALLY & MUSIC FESTIVAL. It’s an all day fest and it starts at Noon. The music starts at 1:00pm. Once again we have partnered up with Jeremy Gomez and The Generation Food Truck crew for another mind blowing event. The last one brought in 30.000 people and earned a GUINESS WORLD RECORD for the largest food truck rally EVER! It’s not going to be that big on Saturday, but it’s gonna be one helluva time. Check out the lineup below..

Hey, I want to thank you all for tuning in last night. We’re getting reports of killer ratings from all our carriers. It’s cool to know that the Rock Solid Pressure Show is still relevant after 13 years of broadcasting. Many times we almost threw in the towel..But I still miss Myspace (lol) We had another extremely dark broadcast last night. They took away our Horror Movies this year. They took Fearnet off TV (gasp), but we will NEVER buckle down to conformity!! We’ll spew Hellfire & Brimstone, we’ll crank out the carnage, and we’ll never play it safe. Every broadcast is different. We love exploding your brain with the newest Hard Rock & Metal..We change it up a lot, but we’ll never lose our dark side

*LAST NIGHT’S PLAYLIST TO DIE FOR

KNIFEWORLD: The Skulls We Buried (Inside Out Music) Exclusive Debut

NACHTMYSTIUM: The World We Left Behind (Century Media) Exclusive Debut

A Birthday Blast..From The (Dark) Past

0

Hey Fiends,

First off, I gotta thank everyone that tuned in for my Birthday Special last night. We had awesome ratings, which surprised the hell outta me. I also want to thank everyone that wished me a ‘Happy Birthday’ yesterday on facebook. I tried to comment on every one of your posts. Took me all day and night lol..

Since our broadcast fell on my birthday this year. I wanted to do something really off the wall and totally break the mold. We decided on an extra long special that highlighted tracks from albums that changed my life in the 70’s. These albums were the main influence for me to pick up a guitar, learn keyboards, vocals..Pretty much everything. I got into my first ‘real’ band in 1980 and toured until 2001..Yeah, it was a long hard road

1980 was also a turning point for me when all the great metal bands came out. We spin a lot of the 80’s stuff on the show, so I wanted to go a lot deeper..And a lot ‘darker’ into the music that opened the gates and exploded my fragile eggshell mind. I was a huge party animal in the 70’s. I was lucky enough to see all the great bands of the 70’s live as well. Those years planted the seeds for my love of the dark side. Here’s a rundown of what we spun last night. Of course you’ll know a lot of them. And on the other hand, there are some that I ‘know’ you had no idea who they were..Maybe I turned you on to something that you will pursue..Here goes

LUCIFERS FRIEND: Ride The Sky (1970) from the album LUCIFERS FRIEND

MAHOGANY RUSH: Land Of 1000 Nights (1975) from the album STRANGE UNIVERSE

KING CRIMSON: Court Of The Crimson Kings (1969) from the album COURT OF THE CRIMSON KINGS

BLACK SABBATH: Wall Of Sleep (!970) from the album BLACK SABBATH

ALICE COOPER: Hallowed Be My Name (1971) from the album LOVE IT TO DEATH

URIAH HEEP: Sunrise (1971) from the album THE MAGICIANS BIRTHDAY

PINK FLOYD: Have A Cigar (1975) from the album WISH YOU WERE HERE

THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT: The Raven (1976) from the album TALES OF MYSTERY & IMAGINATION

JETHRO TULL: My God (1971) from the album AQUALUNG

RUSH: Temples Of Syrinx (1976) from the album 2112

DEEP PURPLE: Pictures From Home (1972) from the album MACHINE HEAD

RAINBOW: Man On The Silver Mountain (1975) from the album RAINBOW

TED NUGENT: Dog Eat Dog (1976) from the album FREE FOR ALL

GAMMA: Ready For Action (1979) from the album GAMMA ONE

*These were the ‘essential’ albums that blew my mind in the 70’s. Bands like SABBATH, TULL and FLOYD, I loved ALL their albums in the 70’s. It was actually a tough choice. The others I did not follow throughout their history, I kinda lost interest, but those classic albums forever changed my life. Not just those albums. I was into all kinds of great music in the 70’s. I loved all the Prog Rock bands, The Southern Rock Bands, all kinds of stuff. I know you probably are noticing the absence of ¬†ZEPPLIN and KISS. I had all their albums, but they didnt really influence me in any way. But all in all, the 70’s was a time in my life that I hold dearly in my heart. We will NEVER see another decade like it. I’m also very lucky to have experienced that era in all its raging glory!! Just want to thank you all once again for tuning in and allowing me to mess with your mind a bit (lol) We’ll be back to our ‘metal’ selves next week..And we’ll still mess with your mind.
